Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship
The Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to full-time U.K., EU and International Masters students, irrespective of their financial means, who progress to a University of Bolton Taught Masters Course.
There will be a maximum of three awards made in the 2017/18 academic year.

You must not be in receipt of any other award from the university
You must not be in receipt of any other kind of sponsorship towards your tuition fees for example from an employer
The course of study must have commenced in September 2017 or later
Applying for the Scholarship
In order to receive the scholarship towards fees students must have completed an application form.

Notification of Award
Students will be notified whether their application has been successful or not via their university e mail address.
The Finance Office will receive confirmation from the Excellence Scholarship team, that you are eligible and will adjust your invoice accordingly.
If you defer entry onto your course of study you will need to re-apply for the Masters (Taught) Excellence Scholarship before commencement of your studies.
If you are not awarded a Scholarship the university has a Student Funding advice team who can advise you on possible alternative sources of funding for postgraduate study.
Scholarships will not be paid to students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time "sandwich" basis. Students studying abroad also will not be eligible to receive the Scholarship.

Alumni Taught Masters Scholarship
The Alumni Taught Masters Scholarship will be awarded to full-time and part-time U.K. and E.U. Masters students, irrespective of their financial means, who progress to a University of Bolton Taught Masters Course, having first completed an undergraduate Higher Education (H.E.) course of study or PGCE/PGDE/PDE/Cert Ed at University of Bolton. You must also have registered to become a member of the Bolton Alumni Association.

Eligibility for the scholarship
In order to apply you will need to demonstrate that:

You must be studying a full-time or part-time Taught Masters MA or MSc course at the University of Bolton. ITT Teacher Training courses are not eligible courses for the Alumni Taught Masters Scholarship as students on these courses are eligible to apply for undergraduate funding from the Student Loans Company. Please note the award will be paid for full 180 credit Masters courses only, not partial Masters courses.
You must not be in receipt of any other award from the university.
You must not be in receipt of any other kind of sponsorship towards your tuition fees for example from an employer.
The course of study must have commenced in September 2017 or later.

Applying for the Scholarship
In order to receive the scholarship towards fees students must have completed an application form.The following evidence should be included with your completed application form:
A photocopy of your certificate or evidence of completion for your qualifying course of study from the University of Bolton.
Evidence that you have registered to become a member/are a member of Bolton Alumni and Friends Association (BAFA).

Terms and conditions
Scholarships will not be paid to students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time "sandwich" basis. Students studying abroad also will not be eligible to receive the Scholarship.
Students who transfer from B Eng to M Eng will not be eligible to receive the Taught Masters Alumni Scholarship.
The Alumni Taught Masters Scholarship shall not be awarded to full or part-time students studying PhD or MPhil courses.
The Alumni Taught Masters Scholarship shall not be awarded for Research courses.

Bolton Brilliance Bursary 2017/18
The Bolton Brilliance Bursary is a cash award which is available to students who commence their course of study at University of Bolton in September 2017, having previously achieved 128 UCAS points at A2 level.

Amount
The Bolton Brilliance Bursary is worth up to a maximum of £3,000 in total. This is paid as a £1,000 cash bursary in each academic year of your studies up to a maximum of three academic years to the most talented students joining University of Bolton undergraduate degree courses in September 2017. There is no need to apply for the bursary, you will be automatically assessed via your application and results but you must have selected the university as your first choice through UCAS by the decline by default date in May 2017 (the Admissions Department will remind you). The bursary may be offered to U.K. and E.U. residents only who are studying on their first full-time undergraduate degree. The bursary may be awarded in addition to other bursaries and scholarships available at the university.

Eligibility
Students must achieve a minimum 128 UCAS points from a HEFCE approved qualification such as:
A-level (ABB+) from maximum of three subjects, achieved at the first sitting in the final exams within the year of application
BTEC NQF Qualifications (DDM) or equivalent from maximum of three subjects achieved at the first sitting in the final assessment within the year of application
A combination of A-levels and BTECs is acceptable
Applicants must also meet the general entry requirements for the University and the specific course to which they are applying. All qualifications must be verified by UCAS or by the University. Students must have selected University of Bolton as first choice through UCAS by ‘Decline by Default’ (early May 2017). All students must have commenced on the first year of an undergraduate degree course of study at University of Bolton in Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year. The course must be delivered at the University of Bolton and not at a partner or franchise partner college. The bursary will be paid for first Higher Education (H.E.) courses only. If you have previously commenced on a H.E. course of study you will not be eligible to receive the bursary.
In order to qualify, all students must be eligible to receive student support under the current government Education (Student Support) Regulations. Students must be studying full time on a course with tuition fees of £9,000 (for academic year 2017/18).

Students whose tuition fees are paid or part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement, for example by an employer
Students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time “sandwich” basis will not be eligible to receive the bursary during their “sandwich” period
Students studying abroad will not be eligible to receive the bursary during their period of study abroad

Payment
Payments will be made in two equal instalments of £500 each in each academic year, direct into the students’ bank account. The first instalment will be in February and the second instalment will be in May.

Stoller Scholarship 2017/18
The university is pleased to announce that from September 2016 onwards the Stoller Scholarship will be available.Therefore students commencing relevant courses in 2017/18 may apply for this award. Funding for this scholarship has kindly been offered by the Stoller Charitable Trust, with the intention of widening participation to provide educational opportunities to the widest range of individuals. The purpose of the fund is to enhance the chance of students in receipt of the award of future success through education, life skills and employment prospects. The award will be available for full-time U.K. and E.U. students commencing on an undergraduate course at University of Bolton from September 2017 onwards subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria shown below and the number of scholarships available, and is a cash award paid over the duration of the course of study for up to a maximum of three academic years.

Amount
There will be a total of ten scholarships available in each academic year, the maximum total value of each award being £3,000. The award will be paid at a rate of £1,000 cash per academic year subject to continued fulfillment of the terms and conditions of the award. The maximum duration of each award will be three academic years. Subject to the application with all supporting evidence having been received from students who are successful in being allocated an award, payment will be made during November in each academic year of the duration of the award.

Eligibility
All students must have commenced on the first year of an undergraduate full-time course of study at University of Bolton in the 2017/18 academic year. The course must be delivered at the University of Bolton and not at a partner or franchise partner college.
Students must be publicly funded via the Student Loans Company or self-funded and not sponsored by a third party for example an employer.
Evidence of the home address as stated above must be provided with the application form before an award can be considered. Acceptable evidence may be one of the following, Driving Licence, Utility Bill, Phone Bill or Bank Statement in the student’s own name.

Application
Applicants are required to complete an application form including a written statement of a minimum of 250 words to a maximum of 500 words which outlines how they think the scholarship would make a difference to their studies. Applications will only be considered if they are fully completed and include proof of a relevant home address. The application deadline for students commencing in September 2017 is 29th September 2017.
In the case that the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of awards available for the given academic year the decision on the award will be made by a designated university panel.

Payment

For students who are studying on a two year course for example a Foundation Degree the award will be paid for up to a maximum of two academic years.
For students who are studying on a four year course for example a degree which includes year zero study, the award will be paid for up to a maximum of three academic years, during the first three years of study.

Awards are made on a discretionary basis and may be withdrawn at any time by the university or at the request of the Stoller Charitable Trust.
Payments will be terminated if the student withdraws, transfers to another institution, fails their programme of study, or interrupts or suspends their studies.
Applicants must agree for data and information on their progress to be shared with the Trust.
Students undertaking industrial or work experience on a full time “sandwich” basis will not be eligible to receive the bursary during their “sandwich” period.
Students studying abroad will not be eligible to receive the bursary during their period of study abroad.
The award will be available in addition to other university awards.
