Course Description
Project management is concerned with the coordination and management of projects or events from inception to completion. Its principles apply across disciplines to encompass any project or event be that construction, entertainment, product development, computer system development or change management. The program aims to bring together participants from a wide range of backgrounds, all of whom are interested in developing their knowledge and skills relative to project management. The program is delivered by academic staff, external consultants and practitioners specialising in areas of project management, all committed to facilitating learning to produce high quality graduates. The Masters program aims to: o develop and enhance project management capabilities, and impart a thorough understanding of management of the total project process; o maximise the experiential learning process by learning from the experience of fellow program participants; and to build a useful repository of knowledge through major project investigations and from research which can be generally disseminated.
Mode and Duration
One Year's Graduate Diploma plus one semester full-time duration.
Lectures for these subjects are held in the evenings between 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm. Intensive classes may also be held over weekends.
Career Prospects
Participants have come to this program in past years from architecture, quantity surveying, construction management, industr
ial design and town planning; and from diverse backgrounds including fund raising and government projects, change management and arts administration. The breadth of participants' backgrounds in conjunction with this program has greatly contributed to their ability to work in multi-disciplinary project teams.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have successfully (credit or higher) completed the Graduate Diploma - Project Management may, with approval, articulate directly into this program.
