If you are a student living in China, there are specific entrance requirements depending on which qualifications you are studying. There are also English language requirements and country-specific fees and funding arrangements for students living in China.
Undergraduate - academic requirements
In addition to meeting the entrance requirements of the Faculty you will be studying in, you must also obtain certain grades in the qualifications you are studying for.
High school qualifications from this country do not usually satisfy our entrance requirements. If you have not completed the International Baccalaureate, A-levels, or the American High School Diploma, you will be required to complete a Foundation Year Programme. Further details of this can be found from our Centre for Interational Foundation Programmes.
If you are studying a foreign language qualification and you wish this to be considered, it should be in a language that is foreign to you and should not be in your first language. You should indicate in your personal statement that the foreign language qualification you are studying is not your first language. If this is not the case your application may be considered less competitive.
Applicants to Medicine should refer directly to the School of Medicine.
Postgraduate - academic requirements
Postgraduate candidates will be expected to hold a Bachelor's degree from a prestigious university with an overall mark of 85% or above.
The degree of MD (Medicine) requires a medical qualification that is recognised by the UK General Council.
English language requirements
All students entering the University must provide evidence that they can use English well enough to study effectively at St Andrews.
We accept a wide range of language tests and qualifications as proof of English language proficiency. If you were educated outside the UK and/or use English as an additional language, you should include information about your English language proficiency with your application.
