International Graduate Student Checklist
For admission purposes, applicants are considered an international student if they are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and they plan to attend the University in a valid non-immigrant visa status (F-1, J-1, E-2, H-4 visas as well as others).
Graduate application checklists and deadlines vary by program. In addition to program requirements, please review the information below for supplementary items required of international applicants.

Timeline
Applications deadlines for Graduate School programs vary by program. However, international students should begin the application process as soon as possible to allow at least two months for student visa processing. Admission decisions will be made after the University has received all application checklist items. I-20 forms will be issued to students after they are fully accepted to the University.

Official Documents
An official transcript, exam result or degree certificate is a verification of your academic record issued in the original language from the original issuing source (i.e., college, university, examining board or secondary school) is required for undergraduate admission. Official documents must arrive to University of Portland in the original unopened envelope as issued by the originating institution, with an institutional stamp or signature on the closed envelope flap.
Attested Documents
We understand that many countries issue only one original transcript, exam result or degree certificate. Please do not submit your original copy to University of Portland. Instead, request that the issuing institution attest a copy of the document. To request an attested document, send a photocopy (never the original) of the document to the institution that originally issued it. They will verify the photocopy against their records, place the institutional stamp or seal on the photocopy (thereby attesting to its accuracy), put the attested copy into an institutional envelope, and affix their stamp or seal over the envelope closure. The issuing institution can mail the attested copy directly to the Office of Admissions or you may deliver the unopened envelope to the office in person.
All documents submitted to University of Portland become the property of University of Portland and cannot be photocopied or returned.
English Proficiency Requirements
Non-native English speakers must provide proof of English language competency. University of Portland accepts a number of language proficiency exams and benchmarks to satisfy this requirement.

Official Transcripts (from all previously attended academic institutions)
Must be submitted directly from the institution or in a sealed envelope given to the applicant directly from the academic institution
A bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university recognized by the University of Portland is required
International Applicants: All foreign degrees will be evaluated by International Student Services prior to an admissions decision
International Applicants: Transcripts from foreign universities must follow the above guideline as well as be in English or be accompanied by an English translation certified as authentic.
Official test scores
GMAT (score of 500 or higher) or GRE (score equivalent to a GMAT score of 500)
This score can be waived if you meet one of the following requirements:
Significant and relevant work experience (at least 3 years)
Completed 9 hours of coursework at an AACSB accredited graduate business program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Business-related graduate degree from an accredited program
Completed 6 hours of graduate business courses at the University of Portland as a non-degree seeking student and earned a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
International Applicants: an official score from either the TOEFL (minimum score of 88) or IELTS (minimum score of 7.0) exam is required
Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
International Applicants: Proof of financial support will be required to attend the University of Portland, but is not required for application review
