  2016 Academic Year Undergraduate Tuition & Related Fees

  Tuition & Per Credit Ancillary Fees (subject to change)

  Tuition fees are approved by the Brock University Board of Trustees, in accordance with the tuition policy set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The fee information is provided for illustrative purposes for typical situations. The actual fees assessed may vary from these schedules.

  All undergraduate students with a credit load of 4.0 or more credits in the fall/winter terms will pay a flat fee. The assessment system will calculate per term fees based on the flat fee rate as well as per term credit weight.

  Tuition is assessed per term at differentiated rates between:

  first and continuing year of study

  "arts, science and other programs" and "professional undergraduate programs" (business and computer science)

  domestic and international (visa) students (Click link for information about applying for domestic fee status)

  **The Province of Ontario charges an International Recovery Fee to be applied to all international students at public colleges and universities. This fee will be applied in either fall or winter term based on the term of first registration for each academic year.

  Sessional Ancillary Fees

  These fees are assessed based on total registration during the Fall/Winter session (*except Health Services Fee). Most ancillary fees are mandatory. These fees are governed by an Ancillary Fee Protocol established between the University and the Brock University Students' Union.

Covers the operating costs of Student Health Services on Campus. Non-refundable.

BUSU Health Insurance **(Subject to Change) 2016 rates unless otherwise noted
Extended medical coverage charged to domestic undergraduate students enrolled in 3.0 or more credits, as registered by September 30 and to International Students regardless of course load. Students with comparable coverage have the opportunity to opt out through the Student Health Plan website.

BUSU Dental Plan **(Subject to Change)
Extended dental benefits charged to domestic undergraduate students enrolled in 3.0 or more credits, as registered by September 30 and to International Students regardless of course load. Students with comparable coverage have the opportunity to opt out through the Student Health Plan website.

BUSU Universal Transit Pass
Fee for the mandatory 8 month transit pass, valid with St. Catharines Transit, Welland Transit and Niagara Transit. Students in fewer than 1.5 credits are not granted a transit pass.

Business Student Levy

Charged to all Faculty of Business majors taking 1.5 - 2.5 credits in each term (Fall & Winter) or $37.60 for students taking 3 credits or more in one term.

  BOOKS AND SUPPLIES

  In addition to the purchase of books, the cost of paper, pens, calculators, drawing equipment, binders, project materials etc. should be considered. The requirements vary widely depending on the program. Book lists are available during the first week of classes. Do not make any purchases before seeing each professor or academic advisor, unless specifically directed otherwise.

  Generally students incur costs of between $900 (Arts) and $1200 (Sciences) per year in most programs.

  TRANSPORTATION

  The cost for a local bus pass is included in your tuition and ancillary fees. Students from out-of-town should budget for return trips home each academic year. Students who drive to the university can get an estimate for parking fees by using the university fees please use the Fee Estimator. Remember to budget for taxis.

  POCKET MONEY/MISC.

  You should budget for an average of $50 a week or about $1,600 per academic year. Your own personal lifestyle, however, will dictate your actual expenditures.

  CLOTHING

  Although most students dress casually, the amount to be budgeted for this category can vary widely. If you have not purchased a suitable wardrobe prior to the academic year, then allowance should be made for additional purchases that may be required during the year. i.e., appropriate clothes for Co-op employment, winter coat, etc. Recommend $200-$300 per term.

  FOOD & HOUSEHOLD SUPPLIES

  From $50 to $75 per week per person. Total: $1,700 to $2,550 per academic year.

  TELEPHONE

  $50 per month. Total $240 per academic year.

  LAUNDRY AND DRY CLEANING

  Allow $10 per week. Total $340 per academic year.

  NSURANCE

  Students living away from home are urged to obtain comprehensive tenant’s insurance. Students should check with their parents’ insurance company to inquire about a rider on the parents’ insurance to cover their belongings, or students can obtain coverage on their own at an estimated cost of $20 per month. This includes coverage for theft, vandalism, fire and general liability.

  Dental and Health Care Benefits are provided by the Brock University Students’ Union. If you already have coverage you may opt out.
