For Admission to a Master's or Doctoral program
The information provided here is a guide in determining how your academic credentials compare to York's minimum admission requirements. There is no definitive answer to your admission eligibility until your entire application package has been reviewed.
Applicants from countries not listed below are also encouraged to apply. Refer to the general reference guidelines listed below and the minimum admission requirements for each program.
General Reference Guidelines:
The qualifications listed are considered generally equivalent to York University's four-year Honours Bachelor's degree with a minimum grade of B.
Some programs have higher than a "B" admission requirement and can include additional criteria.
The Grading System referenced is the most commonly applied system for each country.
Three year first cycle undergraduate degrees from institutions that meet the criteria set forth in the Bologna Declarationmay be acceptable as the equivalent of an undergraduate honours degree.

Master's Degree Requirements:
Bachelor’s, requiring 4 years of study
Doctorate Degree Requirements:
Master’s
Grade Equivalent:
The grade equivalent is based on a mid B standing only. The selected program may require a higher grade.
B equivalent: 80%
When transcripts are received, your application will be reviewed and a grade point average calculated.
Transcript legends are used whenever possible.
English Language Proficiency
If your first language is not English, you must show you have an acceptable level of English by completing a language proficiency test.
If you have completed at least one year at an accredited university(or institution) in a country where English is the official language of the institution, you may be exempt from this requirement.
York University reserves the right to require a successfully completed language proficiency test. Each program identifies the minimum language test score requirements. Check your program of choice for minimum acceptable English language scores.
