  Admission requirements

  High school students

High school students applying to undergraduate programs at UNB must meet the following three sets of requirements in order to be considered for admission:

  English language proficiency requirements

Direct entry: International students require an IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for direct entry into most academic programs.

Conditional admission: International students who do not have an English test score, or who still need to improve their English skills, may be accepted into an undergraduate program on the condition that they will complete full-time English Language training at UNB before starting their degree.

  Country specific admission requirements

CHINA:Senior Middle Two and Three results as well as a graduation certificate. Students may also be asked to report scores from the National College Entrance Examination grades of 70% or above.

  Program specific admission requirements

  Required courses

Students must complete six specific high school courses, according to their program of choice. UNB takes the overall average of the high school grades achieved in these six courses calculate the student’s "minimum admission average", which is used to determine admissibility. Required courses, by program, are outlined in the chart below.

  Electives

Electives are additional courses that may be used toward your admission average. In the event that you have multiple elective courses that UNB considers acceptable and appropriate for the degree to which you are applying, UNB will choose the elective courses with the highest grades to consider toward your admission average.

UNB groups electives into five groups:

Group 1: Senior Secondary Additional or Advanced Math, Biology, Chemistry, Computer / Information Technology, French, Geography, History, Geology, Law, Political Science, Science, Physics, Sociology, Environmental Studies.

Group 2: Senior Secondary Accounting, Business Studies, Marketing.

Group 3: Senior Secondary Communication, Art, Music, Drama.

Group 4: Senior Secondary Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD), Electronics.

Group 5: Senior Secondary Health or Physical Education

Please note: Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to any program.
