What do finance and economics have to do with a legal career? Everything. At Mason, we use a multidisciplinary approach to teaching law that is in sync with the way law is practiced today. Ranked in the top 50 best law schools by U.S. News & World Report, we are strategically located in Arlington, Va., just two miles from Washington, D.C., giving our students easy access to hundreds of opportunities and legal resources. Our location, together with our pioneering core competencies, a demanding curriculum and influential alumni connections, give our students a distinct advantage in a competitive work environment.

2.College of Education and Human Development
There will always be a need for great teachers. At the College of Education and Human Development’s Graduate School of Education, we offer 27 academic programs, such as English as a second language, special education and education policy, as well as advanced studies for teachers and school leaders. In addition, students in the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism can earn a degree in some of today’s top trending areas, such as sports management, athletic training, kinesiology, tourism, hospitality and events management. In fact, the school has doubled its undergraduate enrollment in just seven years and shows no signs of slowing down.

Students are prepared to become future leaders in health care, public health and social services, acquring the necessary skills to solve the challenges of a rapidly changing and culturally diverse health environment. By combining research with community-engagement efforts, students receive a rigorous and relevant education, while simultaneously making a valuable contribution to the region’s health care workforce. Whether it’s global and community health, health administration and policy, nursing, nutrition and food studies, rehabilitation science or social work, students are active participants in improving and promoting health, both locally and globally.

These subjects provide the blueprint for understanding the human experience. Students in the college merge rich scholarly traditions with innovative, experiential learning. They develop the creative and critical thinking skills that prepare them for successful careers.

Science is so pervasive in our everyday lives that most people aren’t even aware of it.
At Mason, students prepare for dynamic careers through a blend of traditional science education and leading-edge, sought-after degree programs in environmental sustainability, climate dynamics, computational modeling and simulation, planetary science and other emerging fields. Our state-of-the-art labs and world-class scientists attract many research opportunities and highly motivated students from across the country and around the world, creating a stimulating, collaborative environment.

The arts engage, inspire and entertain us. They open our eyes to different points of view and are an important component of any well-rounded education. The College of Visual and Performing Arts offers degrees in art, dance, film and video studies, music, theater, arts management, art education, and computer game design. Students have the opportunity to study alongside internationally renowned visiting artists, showcase their work in public exhibits, and perform onstage at one of our many campus venues, including the Center for the Arts. In addition, you can find plenty of artistic inspiration in nearby Washington, D.C.

Do you thrive on problem-solving? Are you willing to roll up your sleeves to help make the world a better place? Would you rather lead than follow? Welcome. Not only are Mason students provided with the skills, knowledge and analytic abilities to be future leaders and managers in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, but our proximity to Washington, D.C., offers access to numerous internship and career opportunities. Policymakers, think tanks, global companies, nonprofits, consulting firms—they’re all here. We offer 15 degree programs, including our new undergraduate Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program. Originally created at Oxford University, it is the first of its kind to be offered in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area.

8.School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution
Conflict isn’t new. But its escalation in recent times calls for more creative intervention strategies and skilled peacekeepers. Mason was the first university in the world to offer graduate degrees in conflict resolution. Today, we continue to lead in research, teaching and real-world practice. With an influential faculty, a diverse student body and an emphasis on fieldwork, the school produces top practitioners who are participating in conflict resolution in neighborhoods here at home and around the globe.

We prepare current and future business leaders for the challenges and opportunities of today’s global market through a range of innovative academic programs, executive education programs, and strategic business partnerships and international alliances. Ranked among the top 100 undergraduate business school programs, part-time MBA programs, and online Executive MBA programs by U.S. News & World Report, the School of Business is accredited in both business and accounting by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

10.Volgenau School of Engineering
What used to be “Northern Virginia’s best-kept secret” is now one of the country’s largest, most comprehensive schools of engineering. We are on the radar and on a roll, adding new programs, attracting more top faculty and expanding vital research. Students can concentrate in six socially relevant themes of their choice, including bioengineering, robotics (drones and beyond), sustainable infrastructure, health care technologies, global outreach and cyber security—critical to defending our networks and one of the most sought-after degrees. Our close relationships with a number of corporate partners also gives students opportunities to apply their classroom learning to real-world situations to help make the world safer, cleaner and healthier.
