The world’s leading study destination for international students, the US
boasts over 150 leading universities in the QS World University Rankings®. In
2015/16, the number of international students choosing to study in the US rose
by 7% from the previous year to exceed one million for the first time (reaching
1,043,839), according to the Institute of International Education’s Open Doors
report. The most popular states for international students were California, New
York and Texas, while the most popular subjects were engineering, business and
management, mathematics and computer science.
Of course, it’s not just the high standard of US universities that attracts
students from far and wide. Whether you’re attracted to the bright lights and
fast pace of the big city or to miles of unspoiled wilderness; sun-kissed
beaches or vast mountain ranges; the rustic and traditional or the sleek and
modern, this huge and incredibly varied country has something for everyone.
