首先改正以下三项常见错误：
原因一：对GRE考试本身不够了解
很多考生在报名考试后就开始投入复习工作中，在考前根本没有理解究竟GRE考试是什么。略知皮毛，匆忙备考，盲目刷题，这样的情况导致考试失败几乎是必然的。要解决这个问题，建议同学们认真阅读GRE官方指南OG前面的导论部分，或者登陆GRE考试官方网站详细了解考试情况，特别是对于考试的题目类型，考试流程，算分方式，出分时间等基础信息，都要有全面的了解。
原因二：复习备考不足
要参加考试自然要备考，如果备考工作做得不到位，那么考试想要取得好成绩也很难。如果你的复习资料只有OG，显然是不够的;如果你以为看过各类复习资料就万事大吉，却没有进行过模考就上考场那也是不行的;而如果你以为自己的模考成绩还不错，就算很多题目其实还没搞明白也问题不大，这显然太小看GRE考试了。GRE考试对于考生的要求很高，绝不是随便看看书稍稍复习一下就能轻易糊弄过去的，端正对考试的态度，认真充分的做好备考工作，你才能在GRE考试中取得满意的成绩。而由于GRE复习资料可能不如托福雅思的资料那么丰富，因此每一份复习资料的每一道题目都是值得考生珍惜的。在此建议大家：复习资料贵精不贵多，但是每一份资料都要反复练习，力求把每到题目都理解透彻，同时在正式考试以前务必要进行模考，掌握好做题时间和解题技巧，才能胸有成竹上考场。
原因三：不适应GRE考试形式
除了以上两种原因，最后一种可能就比较简单了，直白点说，就是考生本身就不适合GRE考试。假如考生本身就不喜欢GRE、不喜欢打破沙锅问到底式的逻辑思维，而只是迫于环境的影响和家长的压力而无奈为之，从出发点上对GRE抱有否定甚至抗拒情绪，那么想要考得好就更不可能了。针对这种比较极端的情况，建议考生如果实在无法在GRE考试上取得突破，可以尝试GMAT考试或者其他途径。
正如上文所说，考试失败不可怕，特别是对于GRE这样可以通过反复刷分来提升成绩，最后只需要提交最优秀成绩给申请学校的考试来说，在失败后总结经验教训继续努力，远比垂头丧气怨天尤人更有价值。失败乃成功之母，只要有坚持奋斗的精神，在GRE考试中取得突破并非天方夜谭。
