Introduction
The Excellence Scholarship awards £2,000 cash to eligible students. The scholarship is awarded as £1,000 in Year 1, and £1,000 in Year 2.
Who’s eligible
1. You must achieve a minimum of ABB at A Level, or equivalent qualifications We can only consider grades which you are using as part of the UCAS tariff points to apply for your university course. It makes no difference if you applied to the University of Sunderland through the regular UCAS process, or if you applied through Clearing. You must not already hold a qualification that is at a higher level than the qualifications listed on the acceptable equivalent qualifications list.
2. You must be a 'Home' or ‘EU’ student The Government classes all students as 'Home', 'European Union (EU)' or 'International'. This status determines which tuition fees you pay, and which scholarships you are eligible for. If you are classed as ‘International’ then you are not eligible for this scholarship.
3. You must apply for a relevant course You must be enrolling on one of the following full-time undergraduate or foundation courses in academic year 2017/18. Any course not listed below is not eligible for this scholarship. Please note that PGCE and Top-Up courses are not eligible for this scholarship.

How to apply
You don’t need to apply for this scholarship; if you are eligible then you will automatically receive it.
Receiving the scholarship
This scholarship is awarded as cash, and paid by bank transfer or credit. The cash payment will be made on the 5th working day of February 2018 and February 2019. If you withdraw from the University before either date, you will not be eligible for the scholarship payment. The scholarship payment is conditional on you maintaining satisfactory engagement and making academic progress in your programme of study in the reasonable opinion of the programme team. If you have not registered onto your course within three weeks of the course start date, the scholarship will be withdrawn and offered to another eligible student. If you have the necessary qualifications for this scholarship, but you have not disclosed them to the University, then we cannot determine your eligibility. The deadline for disclosing your qualifications to us in order to be eligible for this scholarship is 28 February 2018. If you transfer to another course and repeat a year, or if you repeat a year of the same course, the scholarship won’t be paid in the repeated year. However, the scholarship payment will continue once you progress to the following year of study. If you take a leave of absence before the scholarship has been paid, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn. However, if you take a leave of absence after the scholarship has been paid, the scholarship will not be reclaimed. If you have an outstanding university debt of £50 or more, you will not receive the scholarship until the debt has been cleared.

The University of Sunderland are offering the opportunity to come and stay in our student accommodation free of charge in 2017/18 academic year and receive funding for a return trip home at the end of the first year of study. This scholarship is for students who have a home address outside of the North East ‘travel to study’ region, as defined by the University. (*conditions apply, see excluded postcodes below). Anniversary Accommodation Scholarship recipients will also receive £250 cash back to cover the cost of a return trip home at the end of year one. 150 accommodation places have been made available for Anniversary Accommodation Scholarships in 2017/18.

Who’s eligible
1. You must be a 'Home' student on an eligible programme The Government classes allstudents as 'Home', 'European Union (EU)' or 'International'. The Scholarships Team will require evidence of proof of residency following your scholarship application. The Anniversary Accommodation Scholarship is available in the first year ONLY. The Anniversary Accommodation Scholarship will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and ONLY for the specified programmes (see 2. below).
2. You must apply for and meet the conditions of your offer, successfully enrol on to and study a relevant programme You must be enrolling on to one of the following full-time undergraduate programmes in academic year 2017/18. Any course not listed below is not eligible for this scholarship.Programme applicants who are already holding an offer of university-managed accommodation, including the Forge U Student Village, are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Awarding Scholarships
The University of Sunderland Accommodation Team will allocate University managed accommodation on a first come first served basis. This offer is not transferable. The cash award of £250 will be paid on completion of your first year of study. The payment will be paid by bank transfer.
How to apply
If you are starting an undergraduate programme in the autumn of 2017, you can apply for this Scholarship from March 2017 via your VIP page. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2017 or until the accommodation is full. The online application form can be accessed via your VIP page. There are a limited number of scholarships available, and so there is no guarantee that you will receive the Scholarship as accommodation will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The University will check both Home address and programme applications to verify eligibility. If an applicant is found not to be eligible for the scholarship, they will most likely be reallocated to another accommodation of their choosing dependant on availability.

Receiving the scholarship
The University of Sunderland will cover the first year of rent charges for the standard 40 week period in a standard room. Successful Anniversary Accommodation recipients will receive a £250 cash payment on completion of your first year of study. If you withdraw from your programme, the University will not seek reimbursement. If you withdraw from the programme, the University will not pay the £250 cash payment on completion of their first year of study. If you transfer to another programme not listed on the eligible programme list, you will be liable to pay rent from the time of transfer and the University will not pay the £250 on completion. If you have an outstanding debt of £50 or more, you will not receive the scholarship payment until the debt has been cleared. As part of the Admissions process, the University will verify various aspects of a UCAS or direct application to determine that an applicant should be classed as ‘Home’.
