Job hopping has become a significant feature in modern world, and many people believe that some changes can lead to desirable consequences. People who stay with the same organization have the advantage of thoroughly understanding the operation at work and also becoming familiar with the staff and processes. If they work hard, their promotion prospects are good and there is likely to be greater job security, with the promise of a good pension when they retire. Traditionally, employers value loyalty and may offer additional incentives to long-term employees, including bonuses and reward schemes. However, employers now place more emphasis on ensuring that employees are engaged and committed during the time that they spend with them, believing this is more likely to deliver results. Besides, many companies prefer to hire new employees from time to time to maintain their competitiveness and vitality.

雅思口语话题Part3范文:a time when you taught somebody to do something

Describe a time when you were teaching a friend or a relative to do something

  1. What can young people teach old people?

Well, how to use and make most of new technology, first of all. I mean using a computer or a smartphone, which can be a problem for the old without somebody's help. What is more, I think the young can teach the elderly to try new things, have fun and enjoy the moment as this is what they do themselves all the time. I would also add to the list of lessons such things as being diverse, noticing and enjoying the little things, laughing every day and. of course, fulfilling dreams as all this can make twilight years pleasant and enjoyable.

  2. Do you think anything can be learnt by studying hard?

Well, I would say more likely yes than no because our intelligence is not fixed but trained as all other muscles we have, and the more we struggle, the better results we get. On the other hand though, there are specific subjects that require innate skills or talent. The good news is that there are not many subjects like this. So, yeah, studying har...

  andrew carnegie

andrew carnegie, known as the king of steel, built the steel industry in the united states, and ,in the process, became one of the wealthiest men in america. his success resulted in part from his ability to sell the product and in part from his policy of expanding during periods of economic decline, when most of his competitors were reducing their investments.

carnegie believed that individuals should progress through hard work, but he also felt strongly that the wealthy should use their fortunes for the benefit of society. he opposed charity, preferring instead to provide educational opportunities that would allow others to help themselves. "he who dies rich, dies disgraced," he often said.

among his more noteworthy contributions to society are those that bear his name, including the carnegie institute of pittsburgh, which has a library, a museum of fine arts, and a museum of national history. he also founded a school of technology that is now part of carnegie-mellon university. other philanthrophic gifts are the carnegie endowment for international peace to promote understanding between nations, the carnegie institute of washington to fund scientific research, and carnegie hall to provide a center for the arts.

Which of the following functions of smart phones most beneficial to students?

  1)taking photos

  2) listening to the music

  3)recording lectures

  Sample answer:

In my point of view, listening to music is most beneficial to students when they use their smart phones. Because first, listening to the music is an effective way for students to relax themselves. It is the fact that nowadays students are quite busy with their schoolwork for nearly whole week. So in their limited spare time, many students tend to listen to some sweet music on their phones to release their stress from study, which allows them to forget their heavy study tasks for a little while. Besides, music can please almost everyone, but not all the students like taking photos and it’s unnecessary for most of them to record lectures with their smart phones.

Describe a long journey you enjoyed.

  You should say

  where you went

when and why you went there

  what landscapes you saw

and explain why this was such an unforgettable trip.

One journey I went on that was very long indeed was my trip around Europe last summer, travelling by train.

I went for a whole month, going all around Europe from my home country of England east until I got to Eastern Europe, and then back in a loop to Italy. I went so I could see the rich history and culture of the continent, which was practically on my doorstep. I felt it was high time I embarked on a long trip to experience some more of the world and its people.

Travelling by train I kept myself occupied by looking out of the window at the landscapes as they flashed by. The countryside was mostly fields, but once I got to the Alps then it became beautiful. There were towering cliffs of rocks with fast-flowing rivers cutting between valley walls. I could even see a castle on one of the hillsides. Each city I visited brought a new style of architecture and type of person on the street. I saw medieval cottages, baroque cathedrals and shabby, modern apartment blocks. The landscape varied with each country I came to.

I’ll never forget this trip because it was the first time I was travelling without ...

  Influence of TV on people
Television now plays such an important part in so many people's lives that it is essential for us to try to decide whether it is a blessing or a curse. Obviously, television has both advantages and disadvantages.
As is often pointed out, television keeps one better informed about the current events, allows one to follow the latest developments in politics and science, and offers endless series of programs which are both instructive and stimulating. The most distant countries, the strangest customs and the most attractive scenes of nature are brought right into one's room. Yet here again, there is a danger. The main problem with TV has been its effect on young people. They are now so used to getting their information and education and entertainment from television that their literacy as well as physical ability have greatly been weakened. Worse than all, rubbish commercials and harmful programs lead to bad tastes and a distorted viewpoint towards human life, and even poison one's mind, contributing to the rise in violence and crime in the street.
In any case, whether the ultimate effect of TV is good or not, one thing is certain that television in itself is neither good nor bad. It is the uses to which it is put that determine its value to society. (216 words).
