曾经和雅思学生说过万金油的概念，其中第一个万金油就是alienation-social skills. 什么是万金油呢？就是题目符合一定的条件，就可以通用于这类题目的论点。雅思考场上不要花太多时间去考虑写什么，要努力去写自己觉得不错的词句，这个考试本质上是考语言而不是观点，所以观点的创新根本没有意义，除非可以把双方进行推翻，而且最好用归谬法去推翻。
那么alienation-social skills 的意思就是如果题目设计人和人之间的关系，我们就可以套用，反对某事则说这样会使人们疏远，赞成的话就说这样可以促进人们的交际技巧。例如这个题目就可以说，群组学习有助于学生的交流，有助于 social skills，否则单独学习会造成孤立和疏远。这个题目极其常见，可以在新东方写作教程的很多地方找到例子。
