常用iBT文章结构：适用于comparison & contrast essay和argument essay.
不论是comparison & contrast essay还是argument essay，它们的文章结构基本相同。分为三大部分和五段结构(Point-by-Point Format), 也许有人喜欢四段(即Block Format),但就初来乍到者，我还是建议他们使用Point-by-Point Format, 并且依据我老师的经验(Jeff)来看，北美人更加喜欢这种结构(因为这些老外每天都要批阅几十篇文章，他们已经不阅读文章的内容，仅仅是审查文章的结构和词汇，他们没有时间去对比Block Format结构中的问题或者论点)，这令我很吃惊，这与国内老师的意见相驳或者相反。
这篇经验我想用一个例子(Coffee and tea)来向大家解释，有可能我的例子不是很好，或者论点有些可笑，不过我想大家还是要记住，老外已经在iBT中说明，他们不关心你的论点(Issue/Top Sentences) 和论据(Details/Evidence)是否合情合理，只关心你的论据(Details/Evidence)是否可以证明你的论点，仅此而已。大家在稍后的文章中可以看到，我的三个论点中的两个比较controversial, 但是，在我的Detail中支持的好就可以了。
首先，谈一谈五段式结构和Body Paragraph的结构：
Introduction Paragraph：Say what you are going to say. 介绍段：说出你想说的
这个我想不用我多说了，就是文章的“引子”，你的文章是否有高分，这个很重要。这样的句子不要出现，例如：In my essay, I will demonstrate…。下面的句子Jeff称之为Ok Sentence,即可以出现的句子，例如：Tea is the best drink in the world. 或者可以使用五星级的句子，例如：Although Coke is becoming more popular, it can not replace China’s love of tea.
Background / Definition: 重新描述问题，但是不要使用老外给你的题目原话，这里我可以说，如果你使用了原话，不会对你的文章产生任何不好的影响，只是你不会在这里拿到应该得到的分数而已。你可以写成为 Tea is the most popular hot drink in the world.
Thesis: 中心句，如果文章不是argument essay，请不要直接在句子中表达自己的意见或者用一种General的形式来表达大家的意见, 例如：Tea is the world’s favorite drink because it provides health benefits, it is less expensive, and i...

雅思写作的题目经常重复出现，我们就以《图书馆功能》问题为例，题目为：
Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money since computer technology can replace libraries’ function.To which extent do you agree or disagree? 自从计算机技术代替了图书馆的功能以来维护公共图书馆就是浪费钱，你赞同还是不赞同，在某种程度上？
从题型上来讲，这是个非常典型的“同意不同意类”的题目。在分析这个题目的时候大家应该注意分析其题眼所在。整个题目是一个因果关系的命题，即“因为电脑科技可以替代公共图书馆的功能，所以花钱维护公共图书馆是一种浪费钱的举动”。考生需要论证自己同意或者不同这个命题。在仔细分析后我们不难发现这个命题有两条主线：1. 因果关系是否成立;2. 电脑科技是否能够取代公共图书馆。一篇好的文章因该将上述两条主线都要提到，这样子才能保证有较高的文章解析程度。
在分析好题目之后大家就可以开始谋篇布局了。一般来讲常见的雅思作文段落结构有两种，即我们所常见的“五段式”或者“四段式”。
所谓的“五段式”是指Introduction和Conclusion各写一段，然后文章主体部分用三个理由段落来论证自己观点。
所谓的“四段式”就是指主体段落只用两个理由段落来论证。
两种分段方法都有其优势所在。
“五段式”结构层次感强，作者表态更鲜明有力。
“四段式”更加容易操作，客观分析论题的正反两面所以容易组织思路。
大家应该学会根据题目和自己的习惯来选择。例如本次考试的文章，下面分别给出其“五段式”和“四段式”的布局结构供大家参考：
四段式：
第一段 引言：描述题目背景，提出观点。
第二段 主线一：不否认电脑科技可以替代公共图书馆的一部分功能。
第三段 主线二：但是公共图书馆作为社会生活的一部分有其不可替代性。
第四段 总结：综上所述，花钱维护公共图书馆不是一种浪费钱的行为。

所以我认为，四段式的文章更好，因为
1、四段式结构更清晰;

因为什么呢 因为很明显，世界上任何一个命题，正反两方面都写，比只说正方或者只说反方都更容易写250个单词。写一边倒最大的问题就是：40分钟里面凑出250单词以上很难。
比如，在剑桥最新的剑桥5当中，剑桥给出了4套Academic类(学术类)作文题范文，其中有两篇是作为“ an example of a very good answer" 来给出的(另外两篇是低分作文，作为反面教材)。一个明确的信息是：这两篇考官写的高分范文都是用的折中式，而且都是写的四段式。
我们再看剑桥5里面两道General Traing类议论文的范文，其中一片范文写了6段，但是考官的评语明确说了这篇文章“ The paragraphing is not always logical" ( 分段缺乏逻辑性); G类的第二篇范文是五段式，但是如果仔细分析一下，其实最后一段(第五段)只是说了两句空话，喊了两句口号，在一般的议论性文章里面完全是没有必要写的。
所以，剑桥5里面的考官高分范文，充分说明了雅思考试议论文写4段式的合理性。
结论：雅思议论文，四段式在考场上容易操作，而且剑桥考官自己写的范文，大多数都是四段折中式。
